Analysis for Office on Mac

I wonder, with the ever growing SAP partnership with Apple (claims courtesy of McDermott and Cook) why there is still no Analysis for Office on Mac?

That would be a natural progression for AfO. Is there a particular reason for SAP to ignore Office for Mac and actually proper native SAP GUI for Mac? Or maybe something's being developed as we speak?

An interesting reply from SAP on this...

"The technology that Microsoft offered for writing add-ins for Microsoft Excel on Windows is not available in Excel on MacOS. Therefore Analysis for Office cannot be ported to MacOS.

However SAP plans to offer a new analysis and reporting add-in for Microsoft Excel that will be based on a new add-in technology. This way it will also run in Microsoft Excel for MacOS"

Just to clear up any confusion that my comment on the Influence Portal may have caused: The new product that is being developed based on the new Excel web-technology is not positioned a direct successor or replacement for Analysis for Office. It is currently focused only on SAC models.

While the web-technology based Excel promises to support add-ins on a multitude of operating systems it currently does not support some of the aspects that we regards as essential for our current Analysis for Office user base. Most prominently Visual Basic for Applications (VBA).

This is a good point you raise as more and more of our users are asking for a Macs and then finding out they can no longer use Analysis... Have you raised this in the Customer Influence site?

Hello, have you solved the problem of uploading excel from SAP on Mac? Java sap is too unfriendly to development.

I've just seen this request...

This has been requested several times including way back in Feb 2015 (125133) and was set to "Not Planned" in July 2018... Even SAP employees are asking for it!

Doesn't look like it will be coming anytime soon...

Well, I can understand that to do that SAP has to probably completely rewrite the plugin for Mac, which they don't have desire for at the age of SAC and platform agnostic cloud tools. But at the same time - lots and lots of business users are using AfO on the day to day basis and they are denied this functionality on Mac.
