Hello,
We are running "Order-Based Planning: Constrained Forecast Run Using Optimizer" and also we can see in View PDS APP following values are maintained Min lot size: 4000, Max Lot Size: 0, Rounding 1000. SAP says if max lot size is Zero then its ignored.
Now the optimizer run is NOT considering the minimum lot size and in the Production Planned KF various quantities planned orders can be see.
Please help here:
1> Is this standard that Order series optimizer does not consider Minimum lot size and if yes is there any option of making optimizer adhere to minimum lot size.
2> Any pointers to good documents on Orders series optimizer since std SAP help has very limited content for optimizer.
Thanks,
Akhilesh
Hello Akhilesh,
optimzer can consider minimum lot size as well as rounding values. But as both features would induce binary or integer decisions to our mathematical model, which make solving harder, we try to reduce such binary or integer variables to a minimum. Therefore we introduced (with the first release where optimizer is contained) discretization horizons: you can specify for which horizon (in days) optimizer should consider minimum lot size or rounding values. The parameters are part of the job template, section horizons, and have a default value of 0, which menas w/o changing anything we consider moth for 0 days, i.e. with the default setting we ignore both. You can change the values to any horizon you want, but most likely the runtime will increase. So perhaps do not use minimum lot size for e.g. a complete year, but only for the first quarter...
Kind regards,
Christoph

Hi Chris,
Thanks for your valuable input. This was the setting I was looking for.
I tested this and it worked perfectly.
Thanks,
Akhilesh

Helli Akhilesh,
I have not worked on order series optimizer in IBP. However please check if you have activated descritization in optimizer profile.

Neeraj
