Add new characteristics in PR release strategy

HI Gurus,

I have a scenario where client is using PR overall release strategy already and we need to configure new release strategy for new document type. The issue is, we are also adding new Z fields in PR based on which further release will be triggered.

A\I have understood from previous forms is that, going forward structure will be CEBANZZ which has to be used.

1. Can i assign both type of characters, 1. based on which existing release strategy is triggered, which is using CEBAN structure and 2. character for NEW Z fields added in structure, CEBANZZ structure in same release class Or do i need to create all characters i.e. existing as well as new using CEBAZZ structure.

2. Client does not want to change the existing release strategy but as far as i know, we cannot assign 2 different classes to release groups, therefore, i would have to use same release class and assign those new characters in the existing class. Those new fields which we are adding are only in a new PR document type. Will release trigger for existing strategy where we don't have new Z fields but since we added new characters how will system behave?

Hi,

• CEBANZZ is an include structure only, still the main structure remains CEBAN. When you define the characteristics, still you need to define with structure as CEBAN with the new Z fields.
• Now, in the existing class, you may assign the new characteristics.
• Existing characteristics and class may remains the same, since you dont want any changes to them.
• Assign classification values for all strategies including old and new strategies. For old strategy, maintain all possible values for the custom field characteristics as you need the custom field characteristics applicable only for new document types (add value as blank, since the field is blank in old documents).
