SAP PI MetaData issue

Hi Experts,

I am facing a strange issue in production system.

In one of Interface (IDoc to File), SAP PI is not getting. As IDocs are failing with segment number is not correct in structure. Then we update SAP Note 2627177 till PreProd and its started working. But before implementing SAP note 2627177 in Production, we saw that few idocs are processed without updating Idx2 cache, where as majority of Idocs failed with same error.

Could you please let, me know what might be the case ?

Thanks for your reply. This is Inbound Interface, where PI receive Idocs.

--> Yes, We can see Failed Idocs in SM58 in source system and error logs in SM21 (PI system).
--> As the metadata is not loading full structure, Idocs are failing in source system and stay in queue (SM58).
--> SM58 error shows sorting issue, so we implement coressponding note 2627177.
--> Re-triiger Idocs will also failed, as the metadata is not getting completly (runtime or Manual load).

Issue is that, only few idocs are processed without updating metadata in PI and rest 10K failed in Source side. All I can see in SM58 (source system) and log sm21 (SAP PI)

We resolve this with SAP Note 2627177.
But still not understand, why its process only few Idocs and others failed(before implementing SAP note 2627177)

Thanks for your reply. Refresh done for ABAP stack, even manually added metadata but its not updating (one structure is missing). Then I remove the metadata, hoping it will update once message flow. But as I mentioned, only 4 IDocs are processed without updating metadata cache and more than 10K IDocs failed.

I am using SAP PI 7.11 SP12

Hi Bijayashree,

1) Can you see the missing structure in your ESR? if not i suggest you to re-import the structure.

2) Check in your mapping result if the error Segment is in the correct place, compare it with the IDOC displayed in transaction WE60.

3) Did you checked if there are any errors in SM58? (Both in Sender system and SAP PI)

4) When you reprocessing failed idoc's are they processing successfully?

5) check in the sender system Transaction SM21 contains entries for failed logons?

6) These IDOC's are getting failed in the sender system or in SAP PI?

Please have these checked and you will find the root-cause.

Hi Bijayashree,

Please let us know PI Stack your using.

If it's ABAP Stack then, Please refresh or remove the IDoc metadata structure from IDX2. The structure will be reload post messages flow.

If it's JAVA stack then, Please implement what Mr. rajesh has suggested in the above.

We did all pre-requisites. Even manual upload is not happening, as there is issue of sorting Idoc Structure. That why we implemented SAP Note 2627177 till PreProd and waiting for implementing in Prod. I don't understand, how only 4 IDocs processed without updating metadata cache in PI and other more than 10K IDocs failed (Even the SAP Notes is not implemented).

Hi Bijayashree,

Please try to Preload the metadata in PI.

If its an customized iDoc, was there any change in iDoc structure?Also check whether all the iDoc is released in ECC?

You can also try to re import the IDOC.
