Cell color is lost when opening Excel OLE objects

I am working on a report that has multiple sub reports containing Excel OLE objects. The problem I am having is that the report loses all cell coloring when I edit the Excel document.

For example, I have a column that is highlighted yellow. Upon opening the Excel object (which brings up the Excel window), the colors in the Crystal Report preview immediately go away. If I add color to the Excel spreadsheet, it does not add color to the embedded object. The lack of color is maintained when printing or exporting, and I have found no way to edit the embedded Excel object without losing all of the color formatting.

I am using Crystal Reports 11 and Excel 2016.

Did this happen before you upgraded to Excel 2016?

Have you tries using the other Excel format types?

See KBA for registry keys when exporting as well.

2165260 - *** Master KBA *** List of Registry Keys used in Crystal Reports, Crystal Reports for Visual Studio and BOE 4.x .NET SDK to fix, change or correct behavior.

Use google to search for it.

Unfortunately, Excel 2016 has been installed since I've been employed here, so I do not have a way of knowing if it occurred before that version was installed. I did try the other available formats and they all exhibit the same behavior. I will also try to hunt down a license for an older Excel version to see if that makes any difference.

I appreciate you providing the link.

I will go through this list of Registry Keys and let you know if I'm able to fix the issue.

Hi Travis,

CR 11 is end of life, download the trial version of CR 2016 and see if it has the same issue:

Hello Don. I installed the trial for CR 2016 as you suggested, but the issue still remains.
