How to find the performance bottleneck

Dear,

We have the following flow in our SAP Marketing Cloud system:

We have a Campaign flow with the standard "Send Mail" action.

The mail uses a Sender Profile that uses provider sapGeneric (so linked to communication arrangement SAP_COM_0234).

We are actually sending this message to CPI, due to a very specific outbound flow that we needed.

CPI further forwards the messages to another application.

We have a large contact database, meaning we send a lot of messages over this flow, often to about 50.000 contacts.

However, the performance of this flow is deteriorating it seems. It takes currently about 16 hours to get 50k messages sent...

However I'm struggling to find out which system is the bottleneck...

is SAP Marketing sending out the messages at a limited rate?

is CPI processing them at a limited rate?

Is the application that CPI sends the message to replying the success message slowly?

Any tips that can help me to find in which logs I could find more details?

SAP Marketing Cloud logs just give me "action started at date, hour and finished at date, hour" and nr of successfull packages x of x, but not much more than that...

Hi Joyca,

have you already tried to somehow compare the times for different numbers of contacts?

So how long does it take for 1000, 10000 and 20000 contacts and compare it. To see if there is just a bad performance for a lot of data?

Otherwise you could use maybe the trace functionality of CPI for a few contacts to see how long every step take and somehow extrapolate it to 50000 contacts and compare those numbers.

See screen below for a sample trace with times for the different steps

Best regards
