Forcibly closing IDT when it becomes unresponsive corrupts universe

I've noticed that IDT will become unresponsive after cancelling a query then attempting to save and exit the query (using the OK button).

In the past, I've waited for 15 minutes before forcibly closing IDT. Inevitably, this corrupts the UNX that I was using.

Is there a way to quit IDT when it becomes unresponsive, WITHOUT corrupting the universe?
