Component Scrap quantity in cost estimate

Dear experts,

I have a few queries regarding the component Scrap.

>>Does the component Scrap have significance when it comes to ck13n i.e the cost estimate I mean does changing the component effect ck13n. And how does component effect the costing i.e before the production or after production.

>> why the bom explosion does not show component Scrap maintained in bom but it reflects the component Scrap maintained in mrp4 view. Is this the standard system behavior or there is some inconsistency.

Looking forward for the answers.

Hi Pradeep,

For your first query, it does not have impact on costing other than it just inflates the quantity which is required. So the costing automatically goes up. So if you require 100 EA and you have scarp percentage of 10%. The required quantity will inflate to 110.

For your second query, BOM component scarp percentage always takes a precedence over the scrap % maintained in the material master. I assume that you are using cs11/12/13 for BOM explosion. There are 2 different columns , comp.scap(item may) will show scrap maintained in material and column cmpscrap(item) will show scrap maintained in BOM.

Regards,

Ninad

The cost will go up as per the scrap Percentage or quantity. because order is consuming more than bom quantity. if you are not so clear. try to execute ck11n and check the costing.

Hi,

Standard SAP will have only BOM quantity and will not take scrap in to the calculation but while creating the production order Scrap will be taken.

For example if you manitained 10% scrap in masters,

BOM : 0010 Material001 - 100 KG

In production order same material will take scrap too

PROD ORD: 0010 Material001 -110 KG

Whlie taking the cost scrap will be calculated as per the master maintained.

Hi sir,

Thank you much for your reply. Does that mean no matter how much we maintain the scrap for component the standard cost won't go up, if so how scrap effects costs after production i.e for a particular production order.
