Upgrading the SAP IDM 7.2 SP 08 to SP10

Currently we are upgrading our from IDM 7.2 SP08 to SP10. While going through the upgrade steps I could find out how to uninstall the Designtime components.

I can see the application to uninstall the Runtime components in the current install setup.

Please let me know if this Existing Runtime components uninstall application works for both Runtime and Designtime or only uninstall needs to be done for Runtime components.

Anyone can help with finding the Uninstall components Designtime.

    Hello Arijit,

    the uninstall for the Designtime (MMC etc.) is under "Programs > Uninstall Programs". Normal uninstall procedure for applications installed under Windows.

    Hi Steffi,

    The Issue is resolved now. We did one silly mistake, we installed the Runtime components and designtime components in separate disk/path.

    So we reinstalled the runtime and VDS in the same location as Designtime, and its working smoothly. One thing I found out that the uninstallation of IDM components are not mandatory.

    Now we are going to upgrade the SP 10 PROD environment. After that we have Side BOX upgrade plan for IDM 8.0.

    • The Runtime and Designtime components for IDM MUST be the same version (and in the same folder) for IDM to run correctly on any given host system, and the Runtimes MUST also be the same throughout your IDM infrastructure. (The same KEYS.INI is also a requirement)

      There is no direct similar relationship between VDS and IDM, although I would generally recommend it just for continuity if you are using for IDM/HCM or IDM/GRC.

    Hi Steffi,

    We have started the SP10 Upgrade as per the SAP guide and facing one issue is that the Runtime components like dispatcher is not updated to current version. Also the VDS is not upgraded. The MMC and DB schema is updated.

    Although we have not uninstalled any components before the upgrade.

    We have tried to create new dispatcher but no luck.

    Do you have ever experienced any such issue or anything you can suggest.

    Hi Steffi/Matt.

    I facing one issue after the SP10 upgrade is that the ABAP user group values are not populating in the UI while I try to create/Modify user. The groups are available in DB table mxi_AttrValueHelp, also the settings in the attribute MX_ADMIN_UNIT looks fine.

    In PROD system which is on SP08, its working fine and have the same settings.
