Dear team,

I am having one issue with scheduling of network with WBS Elements. When I am creating relationship between activities (FS) in Network only. Scheduling is happening immediately. And second activity is shifting with Finish date of first activity.

But when I am using network in WBS with project then activities and not getting shifted even after scheduling. Configuration is Bottom up, Forward with adjust basic dates, network to determine dates.

Please check the config settings and scheduling screen of Planning Board.

Not able to find the issue why it is happening. I have checked all threads also.

Best Regards,

Scheduling in PS is a littly wonky. So first schedule the Network Header, then schedule the Project.

In CJ20N:

1. Select the Network Header, then Edit, Dates, Schedule.

2. Select the Project Definition, then Edit Dates, Schedule.

You need to schedule the network activities, then when you schedule the WBS it will adopt the dates from the assigned activities.

If you want the WBS to just adopt the Activity Dates, select Strict Bottom Up and Free Scheduling. That way the WBS scheduling won't overwrite the activities.

Hi Sukhveer,

are you are maintaining the relationship between the activities of two different networks in the same project ?
If yes then you can choose the first network and schedule the things else may need to choose each network and need to do the scheduling as suggested by Ken Melching.

Dear Ken,

Its great to get help from you.

I did change according to your suggestion and things are working fine. But I have few points to highlight.

  1. If in any project we have multiple networks (20 networks), then we need to go to each network and schedule each network first then only entire project. If it is correct way or we have some other way to schedule project in single step. Practically it is difficult to schedule project in this way (scheduling network first).
  2. Even there is way to keep one network for the entire project. But creating different networks will make the project easy and manageable. So what you suggest if we have to create one network for entire project or multiple networks can also be managed. I always prefer to create multiple networks in project.

Thanks & Regards,

Sukhveer Singh.
