We are a maritime industry and we have two sites.

One is the shore side and the other is the ship side. we have two different network for office and the ship.

the office has its own LAN network; similarly vessel or ship have their own network.

We have 7 plus servers and 51 client machines and we have a client server architecture in the office site.

similarly we have 5 user and 2 servers per vessel for 34 vessels which we have for our organization.

we are installing sybase in all the servers and the client machines both in the office and the vessel.

I have my project to upgrade our current sybase 11 to the new version v17.

I am confused because I am not sure which is the best version to select for my scenario.

for your info, I am precisely looking for a license type, which is one license and unlimited users and machines.

It means I need a license which can be used for all the clients and servers in both sites irrespective number of the servers and clients I have.

Our application is connected to the sybase using the ODBC connection from each client to the server in both office and the vessel.

Please kindly request your assistance to give me a precise version and license type which I can use for my scenario.

best regards

Hi Manoj,

If ASE is running for SAP applications, please check compatibility in https://support.sap.com/PAM so that you can get clear info about target ASE version. In case, ASE is only running for non-SAP applications, then contact non-SAP product vendors about the compatibility with your application and then choose the supported ASE version. Hope this clears your doubt.

Thanks,

Pradeep
