Multiple data sources on the same chart

Hello,

I use Crystal Reports 2016 and need to overlay a 2019 budget line on the following chart. I understand I can change the data type on a riser if the budget was a column, but I'm unable to find a way to bring in the budget data as its own column.

I do need the month and year to be separate so management can compare the months easily. A screenshot of the chart and chart expert follow.

How can I do this? The budget information comes in from its own table.

Many thanks in advance,

There are a lot of challenges for doing something like this - especially since you'll need to put a separate chart with the budget line on top of the bar chart that you show above.

I have done something like this before, but there's a reason why I called it "the $5M report from hell"! I actually had to do the two charts in Crystal Dashboard Design (Excelsius), embed the whole visualization in the report, and use subreports in Crystal to build the data for the Flash Variables that fed data to the visualization. The most difficult part of that was to get the scales on the two charts to match - the data could be for a single department or for the whole company based on which parameter values were selected, so it had to automatically scale up and down. If you're interested in the technique, I've talked about it at a couple of conferences and posted the presentation, data, and sample reports to my website. Go to http://www.dellstinnett.com/sample_code.html and look for "Integrating SAP Dashboards into SAP Crystal Reports presentation from 2012 ASUG SAP BusinessObjects User Conference". However, I'm not even sure whether Crystal Dashboard Design is still available for purchase and Flash, which is how it publishes its visualizations, is being deprecated at the end of next year.
