hello,
does anybody have a checklist with step by step transactions to do to cope with a slow SAP ECC 6 system ?
not to find the solution but at least find the root cause of the slow system ?
Thanks a lot.
best regards,
Romeo

Hello thanks for answer.
Imagine lot of end user are calling : SAP is too slow. what are the actions I can do to get the root cause of this ( step by step ) ?

Hi Romeo,
I cannot give an exhaustive answer of all of the things you might need to check but I can give an example of an issue that has happened in our landscape previously. An incorrectly scheduled background job for billing document creation that uses all the update threads in the system effectively slowing the system to a crawl for any dialog users. The activity can be verified in t-code SM50/SM51. There are many SM* administrative t-codes that cover different parts of the system that may provide insight into what you are experiencing.

Hi Romeo.
Thanks for you infroamtion.
1, First check the over all SAP production system performance during the peak time. is this any bottle nick like memory / CPU / network access in between SAP Servers and end user access?
Kindly refer the SAP blog about the performance
2. Most of the time Z-reports are running long time. Due to this normal transaction users are getting affected. For this you can enable the trace using transaction code ST12 , check the overall DB & ABAP program usage.refer the link
https://blogs.sap.com/2013/07/17/st12-trace-step-by-step-instruction-on-how-to-use-it-for-analysis/
3. Could you share the SAP & OS/ DB version details ?

Start with ST03N and check the response time for the dialog and other processes. Check ST04 for database performance if you see slowness because of the DB. The other tool is called /SDF/MON which gives you a lot of information.
