Production order Availability check at EWM storage location

HI Team,

In Production order , availability check for components, system check the availability of inventory at IM storage location assigned to component for back flushing. But requirement is to check the availability of stocks at EWM storage location (Warehouse).

The options i have is either check at storage location level or Plant level. But that will not suffice the requirement. Requirement is to only check at warehouse (EWM location). Staging happen via outbond delivery from EWM location to IM location assigned to component. PSA is linked to component in BOM.

Please assist.

I am also wondering about this exact question.

If the "Storage Location Inspection" is activated, system only does a check for the availability in the storage location assigned to the component in the BOM. However, if using a PSA, the storage location is different in the BOM.

The control cycle creates that link between the available stock and the production supply area storage location.

This means, if the stock is in the available stock in EWM and not already in the PSA, the system displays that component as "Missing Parts".

If you choose to not have the storage locations checked, then the availability check is done on the plant level. This is not good because if goods just hit the dock and are posted GR, the stock maybe in the incoming supply and SAP is allowing the release of the production order since the goods are on the plant level. This is also true if the goods are in a different storage location for inspection, for instance someone needs to check the goods before they can go into available stock. SAP still uses this quantity and says there is no missing parts.

There must be a way some how for the system to tell if an article has a PSA assigned and if it does, you the control cycle to find the storage location where the stock could be stored at.

Thanks,
Scott

Hi all,

did you get any further information about this topic?

I am also interested in the ATP check during production order release. With 2 seperated storage locations (1x central EWM warehouse, 1x IM production storage location) and order specific staging it would not make sense that the ATP checks the production storage location, since only already reserved material will be lying there. It would make more sense to check the central warehouse storage location that is defined in the control cycle.

Manuel

In the meantime I got some additional insights:

You can create a MRP area with the warehouse storage location and the production storage location (PSA). Then ATP can check on MRP area level.

Of course this has also an effect on MRP planning etc.

HI Lingaiah,

That function is already active and there is staging process happening between EWM and IM location. PSA is assigned to component in BOM. Control cycle is maintained . System does create outbound delivery when production order is released for staging of components from EWM to IM location.

The question was , when Production order does the availability check and generates a missing part list before releasing the Production order, system should check the stock in EWM location and not in IM location which system is currently doing. Activating the availability check at Plant is also not an option because requirement is to check only at EWM storage location.

Hi,

Production order availability checks not possible at EWM storage location level, it considers IM storage location during availability check based on storage location assigned to the components. You can activate the EWM production supply in ERP using the business function LOG_PP_EWM_MAN.

If you execute EWM material staging for production or process orders, you can also generate deliveries using the quantity to be staged by executing the function multiple times.

Best regards,
