Launching Fiori app directly after SAML 2.0 authentication

Hello Experts,

We have configured SSO with Microsoft AD with Fiori for our project. We are trying to launch a Fiori app directly using the app URL after single sign-on. Single sign-on is working fine but instead of launching the Fiori app (SAP GUI type) directly it is opening the Fiori Launchpad which we do not want. I have followed some of the blogs and found that we need to set the Single Sign-On End points to HTTP POST instead of HTTP Redirect. Even after doing this it does not work and after single sign-on still we are landed to Fiori launchpad not the intended app.

What am i missing here? We are using S/4 HANA 1809 version with SAP_BASIS as 7.53.

Thank you,

Mohammed Imran

Did you manage to solve the problem in the meantime? We have the same problem when authenticating with Azure AD.

Hi All, It seems Microsoft Azure does not keep track of the URL fragment after successful authentication and redirection. We reached out to Microsoft on this and they confirmed that this is a known issue. Anyways for our use case end users would be navigating to the Fiori app after logging in to Power BI based analytical application. Hence in this scenario URL fragment is preserved as now the Microsoft AD authentication happens in Power BI app level, not at the time when user is navigated to the Fiori app. So the app opens successfully for our use case.

Hope this will help if anybody has the similar requirement..

What is the URL of your application that you are opening in the browser? Does your application contain an index.html file?

Were you able to solve it by yourself? I would be interested in the answer.
