BOBJ: How to fix "The Server Intelligence Agent for this server is unavailable" ?

Hello,

we updated BI 4.1 SP4 BOBJ to BI 4.2 SP7 running with SQL Anywhere 17 on a RHEL sever. The update process did not indicate any issues. However when we restart all services and login, then we get several server error messages. In CMC servers list we can see that only the CentralManagementServer is running. All other servers fail to come up, because of the error message "The Server Intelligence Agent for this server is unavailable."

We failed to fix this, so as an alternative we created a new installation of BI 4.2 SP7. This runs perfectly fine, but we are missing our previous documents. Now our idea was to simply replace the new/empty files BI4_CMS.db and BI4_Audit.db with the old ones from the other broken installation. When we do this, the result is that our documents are back indeed, but unfortunately so are the server errors. So this means that the db files contain the documents as well as the broken server information.

Please give me advice how to...
A) fix the Server Intelligence Agent issues (so we can continue to use the old installation)
or
B) export/import the documents from old to new db (so we can switch to new installation)

Thank you very much and best regards,
Bernhard

as you update from BI 4.1 to BI 4.2, then you must enter the new license for 4.2 (in CMC under license), then under server, activate all servers und aps. then start all servers und aps

on the new install that is using old CMS DB simply re-create SIA, that should fix the problem.
use serverconfig.sh.
This type of issues are very well documented in the the knowledge base.

Thank you Denis,

the SIA issue was fixed using serverconfig.sh. All servers are running now and the documents are back, so this looks fine at first sight.

However, when I try to open an existing WebIntelligence document I get this error:
The document cannot be retrieved from the File Repository Server. (WIS 30951) (Error: INF )

And when I try to create a new WebIntelligence document I get this error:
The document's serialization version is too recent (Error: WIS 30915) (Error: INF )

The settings for InputFileRepository server look fine (auto assign hostname / port) and it restarts just fine, but still the issues remain. There are dozens of SAP notes for "WIS 30915", unfortunately I am not sure where to start. I mean, the issue obviously comes from using the old db with the new installation.

I'm hoping you can help once again; could you by any chance point me to the right direction?

Thanks and best regards,
Bernhard

first error mot likely means you did not copy the content of old system FRS to the new location.
second error, depends on exact workflow, there are only 6 kba's on it, one of them should help. (do not search for the WIS, search for the The document's serialization version is too recent
