SAP Hybris Commerce 6.4 CAL - cannot start service

Hello,

We've started a CAL of SAP Hybris Commerce 6.4 in Azure. I followed the Getting Started Guide, and I managed to activate it, and I can log in to the machine via SSH.

I cannot access the web URLs for Backoffice and storefronts, even after setting up /etc/hosts in my PC as instructed by the Getting Started Guide.

I looked around in the console, and it seems to me that Hybris is not running, and I cannot start it. If I understand correctly, Hybris should start automatically when the VM is started up. Here is what I did in the console, following the documentation in the Getting Started Guide to start and stop Hybris.

hybris@sid-hdb:~> cd /cal/plugins/hyc/6.4/hybris/bin/platform/

hybris@sid-hdb:/cal/plugins/hyc/6.4/hybris/bin/platform> . ./setantenv.sh

hybris@sid-hdb:/cal/plugins/hyc/6.4/hybris/bin/platform> ./hybrisserver.sh start
Starting hybrisPlatform on Tomcat...
Waiting for hybrisPlatform on Tomcat.......
WARNING: hybrisPlatform on Tomcat may have failed to start.

hybris@sid-hdb:/cal/plugins/hyc/6.4/hybris/bin/platform> ./hybrisserver.sh stop
Stopping hybrisPlatform on Tomcat...
hybrisPlatform on Tomcat was not running.

I also tried following the steps here to check the db.password and change the db.url, but it didn't help:

https://answers.sap.com/questions/448939/sap-hybris-conmerce-64-via-cal-unable-to-access-ur.html

I think I may have a different problem?

  • I've also tried using nohup as instructed by the answer to the above question:
    $nohup ./hybrisserver.sh &
    I got the following in nohup.out:

  • Hi Gábor,

    our tooling mechanism should start SAP solutions automatically, without any user command line commands.

    Best regards, Konstantin

    Hi Gábor,

    i started an instance and managed to access the both HCB and HAC.

    1. Start an instance;

    2. On your machine, where your browser is located, you have to map the instance IP to vhcalhybris.dummy.nodomain;

    Two possibilities:

    - modify your OS hosts file and insert this mapping

    - map this inside the browser (I'm using Chrome and doing this via Virtual Hosts extension)

    3. The link from documentation isn't working correctly;

    The working link i have accessed is not HTTPS i.e

    http://vhcalhybris.dummy.nodomain:9002/backoffice/

    (Initially i pressed the link from documentation and it was redirecting me to HTTP, but then i saw that the port number was trimmed from the link)

    PS: One more thing, the user should be with lowercase "admin", "Admin" with password "nimda" isn't working.

    Hope this helps, Konstantin

    • Hi Konstantin,

      Thank you for attempting to help, but I still cannot access Hybris. I tried port 9001 and 9002, HTTP and HTTPS, no combination works. I always get "err_connection_refused" in my browser.

      Meanwhile, this URL works fine:

      http://vhcalhybris.dummy.nodomain:8000/

      ...and it brings up a page telling "SAP XSEngine is running". This tells me that I correctly set up my hosts file, and the problem is something else. As I said above, my impression (from what I learnt from the Getting Started Guide) is that certain parts of the software are just not in working order in my instance, but I don't have enough experience with linux, Hybris, Tomcat, etc. to troubleshoot it. Can you please suggest next steps?

      Thank you.

      Best regards, Gábor
