Hello There,

Kindly help me reducing the size of the folder.

I have installed SAP BO SP04 on windows. After a month of use the 'SAP BusinessObjects' folder has been increased to 19 Gbs. (with just 12-15 reports in it (3 Users))

I have cleared the log files

most data is there in , InstallData(5 gbs) ,tomcat.

Cleaned the logs as well.

Thanks in advance,

R

A couple of other things to look at if your file repository is on the same computer as BOBJ:

1. Make sure to clear all of the data in the reports before you same them (except for instances). If you have a report that loads a lot of data, it will take up more space when it's saved.

2. Be aware that instances will take up space in the Output File Repository. You might want to think about setting limits on instances so that they will be deleted after either X number of days or Y number of instances. Instances that meet the limits will be deleted the next time a schedule runs for that report, not when the limit is applied.

Hello Christy,

Thanks for all your time and inputs.

Could you please explain little more on No 2..

Or some hint steps to implement this.

In the CMC, right-click on a folder and you'll see an option for Limits. I usually have my clients set a default limit at the top level folder which will inherit down into the lower level folders. Then you can change that default for specific folders if you need to.

InstallData is where install information is kept, do not delete anything in this location manually as it make your installation not-upgradable and not modifiable.

This location will increase in size after each patch or SP installed.
If you want to reduce it - un-install patches or SP's you do not need

Like, original install is 4.2 Sp4, then you installed Sp5, Sp6and then patch 100, 200....
you can uninstall patch 100, then Sp5.....

Hello Denis,

I have not installed any patch-- Its a direct install of SAP BO 4.2 SP04.

Kindly advice.

then you should not delete anything in that location, the growth is not happening there.

In addition to what Denis and Dell have said, 20 GB is normal if you install servers and clients on the same computer as well as many languages besides English

see "BI 4.2 SP04 PAM" page 26

19GB sounds pretty low; that's what I normally see for a brand-new installation.

The installer will create a complete copy of the installation files in InstallCache, which is why it's so big. It's not required for normal operations, but deleting its contents would prevent you from installing add-ons or patches.

Tomcat will be around 5-6GB normally. The BOE application (in webapps/boe) is about 2.7GB, and this is copied into work/. Nothing can be safely deleted here.

The PAM recommends 25-30GB of free space, depending on the number of language packs installed.

According to your screenshot, BO is taking up 18.7GB out of a total of 170.8GB. I think you should be looking elsewhere for cleanup opportunities!
