    Hi

XSteps rely on PP-PI-PMA functionality, you will have to do some config here as well. It will not just be discrete manufacturing config.

Here is what you need to do step-by-step (or should I say XStep-by-XStep):

    1. Activate Enterprise Extensions EA_SCM (Attention: non-reversible) and check the activation log
    2. Activate Business Function LOG_PP_XS_RTG_PO (Attention: non-reversible) and check the activation log
    3. Proceed per SAP note 1931910 to make the Xsteps button visible
    4. Depending on whether PP-PI-PMA was already configured on your system, you might have to adopt standard settings: check in CT04 for characteristics starting with PPPI_. If already found, skip to steps 9
    5. Production Planning for Process Industries > Process Management > Standard Settings > Adopt Predefined Characteristics
NB: Characteristics cannot be transported. Therefore, you must carry out this step in your target system(s) again before transporting them.
    6. Production Planning for Process Industries > Process Management > Standard Settings > Adopt Predefined Message Categories
NB: execute per plant and for contexts 'blank' and 'PP '
    7. Production Planning for Process Industries > Process Management > Process Instructions > Define Characteristics Groups for Process Instructions
    8. Production Planning for Process Industries > Process Management > Process Messages > Process Message Characteristics > Define Characteristics Groups for Process Messages
    9. Define destination(s) as per your requirements:
Production > Shop Floor Control > Integration > Process Integration > Control Instructions/Work instructions
Production > Shop Floor Control > Integration > Process Integration > Process Messages
    10. Production > Shop Floor Control > Master Data > Production scheduling profile: set indicator Generate Control Instructions/Recipe Upon Release
    11. Depending on your requirements, additional config might need to be done here:
Production > Basic Data > Execution Steps

Now you are ready to roll. Start by importing the standard XStep templates from the SAP notes in the previous post into CMXSV.

    Regards
    Jan

    Hi,

the error during import my be either related to missing customizing settings (thoase that Jan describes). Another issue could be that the part of the SXS repository you wan to insert the XML content is error-prone. You can easily check it by selecting the target node and executing the check function.

    Kind regards

    Uwe
