Background Jobs

Hallo Experts,

1) If i understood correctly, if i maintain the target server in SM61 for particular batch job then the load balancer won't work in this case.

2) Both SMLG and SM61 can be used to maintain the logon groups for batch jobs, right? i don't see any difference between them.

3) If i understood correctly, if no batch process are free then we get error like "Time Out" and not like "TSV_TNEW_PAGE_ALLOC_FAILED", right? As "TSV_TNEW_PAGE_ALLOC_FAILED" occurs only if there is shortage of memory for a work process to handle the batch job.

Thank you for your reply.

Best regards,

Ganga

Hi,

To add on more points by Sriram,

Via SM61 you are not really load balancing , it just is allocating jobs server-by-server.

Hi Ganga.

1. After created the Job group in SM61, you have assign the same group name in each of the background jobs " Exec. Target " then you will get the BG job load balaner.

2. For background jobs in SM61 not on SMLG, SMLG use for end user logon group.

3. if no batch process are free then we get error like "Time Out" - Answer is NO. If the batch process are occupied your background job will be executed in the delay. in SM37 you can check the bg job status execution time and delay time.
