Using OASIS UBL in SAP PI

Dear PI / PO Experts,

I searched the SDN and found a lots of threads about this topic. But they can not answer my question:

Wether an AS2-Adapter and B2B-Addon must be needed in the scenario?

As I understanding, this is an interface: SAP <--> PI <--SOAP / UBL--> Customer / Supplier.

Could anyone confirm my assumption or give a step-by-step guide?

Hi Sara,

I'm not familiar with what UBL is, but you could basicly use any HTTP based adapters to send data to your partner. If you need to pass XML messages try to use the SOAP or REST adapter. The AS2 adapter also sends data with HTTP and basicly it can also send XML messages but it requires that at the receiver there is also an AS2 server that can handle the incoming message with the additional AS2 HTTP headers and send an MDN back to your PI systm.

Other colleagues told me, the B2BAddOn and AS2-Adapter must be installed and the XML Messages, i.e. Invoice should be sent by AS2-adapter to external customer. Right?
