SAP Product Structure Management
Problem Statement:
Either during Product Item Variant creation process, or after a Product Item Variant has been created, it is not possible to assign a material. This problem is present regardless if a change master is used to maintain a structure.
Has anyone encountered this?
System: EhP 8 with PLMWUI SP 4 (SP 4 is the latest from SAP, with SP 5 expected this week)
Scenario 1: Attempt to assign a material after a Product Item Variant has been created:
Note: A Change Master has been used in this scenario.
Assign a Change Master, highlight the PIV and ‘Create a New Change State’:
Enter a Material into the Material field and press Return on the keyboard:
The error ‘Unit not Defined’ is displayed.
Scenario 2: Attempt to assign a material during Product Item Variant creation:
Note: No Change Master used in this scenario.
Highlight a Product Item and, on the Product Item Variants tab, enter a new variant, a material number , a quantity, and a unit of measure.
Press Return on the keyboard:
Again, error ‘Unit not Defined’ is returned.
