Fulltext search inside document files in DMS

Hello experts.

I would like to know whether it is possible to implement a search function in S/4 Hana 1809 which can execute fulltext search inside attached document files (pdf, word, excel etc.) If possible it is very appreciated for you to let me know which customization or installation steps are required.

Regarding this I have already checked the previous Q&A as follows; "Document text search in cv04n with TREX" https://archive.sap.com/discussions/thread/1402716

And I would like to make sure that the guide descreption on the link is still applicable in S/4 Hana 1809 environment, since it was so long before.

It is possible; depending on how your HANA platform was installed, component installation might be required. Post-installation configuration on the HANA platform is required, including setting up the indexing service(s) and job(s). The exact steps depend on your HANA version (1.0 or 2.0), release and patch level. Since you are using SAP S/4HANA 1809, you have HANA 2.0. Last time when I worked with a Basis person on setting it up, there was no one document with all the required information, I had to combine information from several sources (help.sap.com, SAP notes, ABAP code, etc). You could get started by reading the SAP HANA File Loader documentation.

in CV04N the fulltext search using TREX is still a valid option in DMS also when using S/4 HANA 1809.
