SMP3 - Admin / Architect:

Hi, I have a question on SMP3 and Administration/Architecture...:

We are told that our Basis team must install SMP server on each developer's laptop so they are able to develop code.

Given our traditional basis background this is very strange to us.

We have SMP Dev , QA and Production servers in place like the ERP landcape . Do we need to install a separate SMP 3.0 for each developer on his/her machine ?

Please suggest how are other companies handling this.. Supporting servers that are installed on personal computers where we have no control over what the computer owner is doing is a nightmare.

Please suggest.

Regards

Amit

Generally in my experience, the developers have the sdk installed locally and use a central development server. If there is a chance their efforts could clash, I could possibly see a reason to develope separately and I could understand a personal server so it is really driven by the design and needs of the developer.

    Regards,

    Kevin
