I have asked 3 people who work at SAP & none of them knew the answer, but here is what I have heard & not been able to confirm...
If you are a company, and you do not have SAP at all, you have to get SAP HANA, you cannot get SAP ECC 6.0. If you are a company currently running SAP ECC 5.0, you can upgrade to ECC 6.0 EHP7, & then later upgrade to HANA. However, if you're a company running anything older than ECC 5.0, i.e. R/3 4.6B, 3.1i, etc, you CANNOT upgrade to ECC 6.0, you have to go directly to HANA.
I keep hearing, "that sounds right," but NO ONE has been able to confirm this is 100% true (or false).
If anybody knows for sure, please let me know, & I will pass the info on to SAP, who apparently is not interested in training its Sales & Support personnel.
Thank you!
Hi Grossi,
U can upgrade any level (U mentioned ECC5) to ECC6 and EHP .
SAP is planing to Maigret all Customer to S4HANA before 2025, so u can use or upgrade the system ECC till 2025.
New installation also can do in 'ECC 6 EHP 7, EHP8 with different DB' and also done by 'Business Suit (ECC with HANA DB) on HANA and S4HANA'

Sajmal

Hi Grossi.
1. From any old SAP version(R/3, ECC5) to any level of ERP upgrade can be possible. SAP ECC End of Maintenance on 2025 as mention in SAP PAM. In our environment we are running in SAP ECC 6
2. Any new installation you can go for SAP HANA - true.
