Hi

I have a client 009 and I am exporting that client to import on separate hardware. but due to some space constraint I need expert advise on this,.

My query is

1. export file size is around 30 gb so space require at target  side will be same or I need more space to import it

2. how can I fast the import process at target side because I have less time remain to up the server,

Your prompt reply will be highly appreciable.

Thanks

Hi,

Speaking about Time? How musch time youa re having or is it like, As Soon As possible?

See there are different types of Client copy. As per my understanding you are looking for Client Export-Import, which is good. But considering you scenario, you have to know also which client-copy works how. I would in your scenario suggest to use SCC9 for remote client copy if the both sap servers are added in the same domain-system, because it would do the export-import at 1 single-shot. Also take care of the other options that I mentioned in the other Discussion-thread. Because, if you will go for Export generation & then, import its 2 phases, Now if you have already generated the Export in the correspondent Transport Request then, its better to go with the Export-import because already export generated. Now coming back to your another question, How much spae? Generally when data is made compact, it shrinks upto 10 times smaller size in SAP concept & also while de-shrinking means 10 times bigger. So for 30 GB, almost 250-300 GB is Ok, but considering that you wil do further modification on the new client, I would ask you to keep some more space.

If further query, please update.

Thanks,

Hi,

I am sorry, another question of you was missed.

how can I fast the import process at target side.

Generally the client-copy job is required to be done at weekends when there is no activity of Users in the System. Well as you mentioned the size, so it also depends about the client program & table structures & their contents, how much they are contact or divided like if a table was extended to another disk location then it would generally take a little bit more time. Still considering the size if SCC9 might take up to 8-9 hours or more or less, depending the options that you choose. If Export Import, then, export 2-3 hours, import a little bit more approximately 4-5 hours or can be more or less.

Thanks,

Dear kaushik

So As per my understanding 30 Gb will take around 300 Gb space in target database

Export took 24 hours for 30 Gb.  so from your opinion how long import process will run .

Now As you already cleared I can't go with remote copy so please clarify how can I analyze or speed up the import process .

thanks

It depends on your system OS, RAM size, processor speed,  varies in Cloud system which is preferred by SAP. So, if the export got 24 hours, then with the parallel process & if the target system is having the same configuration(OS & hardware), then it might take around 30-36 hours if there is no errors in between & stopped. Before doing the import also you need to carry out the per-requisites of Client-copy imports which you can get the result if searched

Thanks,
