Hi

My question is regard to SAP Client Copy that directly effect to Database tables.

When we do client copy from 000 to any client e.g 100 then it create new table at database level suppose there is table ab00 after copy the client it look 000(logical name ).ab00 or 100(logical name).ab00

if yes then ok if no  then why it take so much time as compare to create new client  .

New client creation is just 2 mins activity .

thanks

Hello,

your assumption is wrong, there are no tables per client, all clients are stored in the same tables. Within the tables there is a column MANDT or CLIENT which contains the client number e.g. 000 or 100. When you now do a client copy all rows in all tables which have a client column have to be duplicated into the same tables with the new client number.

When you create a new client no data has to be copied, it is only a new entry in some smaller configuration tables (e.g. in T000). The runtime difference comes from the amount of data to be copied.

Best regards

Clas

Hi Amresh,

As you know that you are doing the client copy, so the time as you are mentioning, is very less(2 mins). You have to give some time. By the way in what SAP system you are doing the client copy? Is it a local client copy-copy, by your post it looks almost like as a Yes. After that also the client-copy is just not taking the name of the client. Like our friend here mentioned about Table T000, I would also like to add that 1st of all whenever you create a new client say SCC4, so the new client name details gets added in that Table T000 & that is why while deleting that client using SCC5, it also gives the option to tick-mark Delete entry from T000. Lets say you are going through doing the client-copy, you can monitor the activities & copy details using SCC3. Now we can obviously help you if you are getting any errors doing so. Are you getting any?? So the new client details & properties are getting filled from the data of that of your 000 client. Here to make it a little bit faster we can suggest some points only, like using of Parallel Load Generators or generally known as Parallel Processing, also deactivating Archive-Logs before doing the Client-copy in Expert Mode Settings can also help you here. As you have mentioned that you are already copying from the Golden Master client, so there is nothing matter like only copying special areas/tables only is not a good choice.

Also like say you have some users created or some PO/SO created, any details in the Source-Client, so it would also copy those which you can after completion of the client-Copy, you can login to the target client & check for the details, that means its making all the entries as copied. For example, when you create a client in SCC4, it does not have a DDIC user, the DDIC User & its properties gets copied from the Source-Client only. So nothing to worry, just keep the Logs Drive space on check from time-to-time & relax & take your time to do some other thing until it gets finished totally.

Thanks for giving me the opportunity to describe the matter to you. I hope I was able to clarify properly. If any issue or doubt, please update here & we would be happy to assist you in that regards.

Thanks,

Kaushik
