Analysis (Version 2.3) for Excel compatibility issues with Excel 16/Office 365?

Hello,

We’ve been experiencing an number of Analysis for Office incidents in recent weeks related to the Excel toolbar. Although we have identified suggested actions, some of the behaviors are resolved, while others persist…seemingly at random. As we work to find a permanent solution, we just wanted to put this out here on the forum to see if anyone else has had any issues similar to these, or could provide any suggestions as to what might be causing them. Any help is appreciated, and thank you in advance!

Scenarios:

  1. The “Analysis” ribbon on the Excel toolbar disappearing at random, requiring users to go to the COM add-ins menu and manually re-check the Analysis add-in. The Analysis icon reappears after doing so.

  2. Same symptoms as above, but the Ribbon does not reappear upon re-checking the add-in. The user is forced to open Analysis for Excel through the desktop Start menu. The Analysis icon reappears after doing so.

  3. After performing both troubleshooting methods above, the Analysis add-in is still not working.

Thanks!

Conner - which version of Analysis Office are you using? 2.4 SP1?

Thanks for your response Tammy, I'll edit the post to include this info. We are using version 2.3 currently.

I'm on 2.4 with Office 2016, but I haven't experienced this; you may also want to specify if you are using 32 bit or 64 bit Office

Hi Connor

Last year we evaluated AO 2.3, however our test results showed that it was highly unstable with Office 2016/365.

Therefore we decided to not roll-out AO 2.3 and rather wait for AO 2.4 SP01 instead.

We have started the roll-out of AO 2.4 SP01 to our users begining of February 2017 (either the 32-bit or 64-bit version of AO 2.4 SP01 depending on the version of Office 2016/365 installed) - so far no major issues have been reported back to us from our users.

Regards

Derek

Derek - thank you for sharing; I haven't experienced the issues Conner outlines in 2.4 either.

Hi Derek,

Thank you very much for this info! It seems that our best bet at this point may be to consider rolling out 2.4 SP01 in the near future as well. I'm glad to hear that there have not been any major issues so far since your upgrade.

I really appreciate the response.

Thanks,

Conner
