SAP ESS MSS WDA - Launchpad Customization

Hi,

Regarding  ESS WDA Launchpad Customization:

Kindly let me know which option is the SAP recommended best Practice.

Option 1: Directly edit the Standard launchpad role ESS/MENU???

(OR)

Option 2: Copy the standard & create Z Customer ZESS/Menu Launchpad by having Z Role & Z namespace???

Information:

We do NOT have any preference on the above options,

We do NOT have any major customization for ESS.

We have skill set to implement any of the above options.

***I know Option One is easy to implement, but would like to proceed with the SAP recommended best practice.

There are not much pros or cons, As I mentioned previously you can follow any one as per your system setup and versions.

Option1:

-> System will maintain versions you can always have track of changes between standard and your changes.

-> No need of customizing WD application / Implementing the BADI.

-> During upgrade also It wont impact, where you can adjust in spau/spad t-codes for any objects adjustment.

Option2:

-> You can have your own ESS Launchpad menu

-> Need of customizing WD Application / Implementing BADI to point to your custom ESS Launchpad menu.

-> During upgrade no impact on your custom menu, only thing you need to adjust your WD App/ BADI in this case.

You can follow any one. SAP doesn't specify any specific to follow to modify the ESS menu.

You can do directly in sap standard ESS menu itself.
