GST Implementation on 4.6C by making a client copy and upgrading it

Hi Experts,

We have SAP 4.6C and we would like to implement GST . One of the pre-requisites is that SAP should on ECC 6.0 and condition based procedure TAXINN needs to setup.Our  SAP system is being used globally and upgrade to ECC6.0 would be a nightmare and not in the scope.

One of the solution we think is to make a client copy of SAP 4.6c and upgrade & migrate it to TAXINN. We would like to migrate all the master data to this new system copy and use this new system/client for new sales orders. We will migrate all the open sales orders from  4.6c to new GST compatible system.

Is this approach realistic ? what are the downsides of this approach ?  we would eventually consolidate all the data in new GST system and feed it to the Old 4.6c.
