How do I set standard selections of reports for other business roles homepage?

Dear all,

does somebody know, how I can create and assign standard selections of reports to business roles in order use them in the homepages of business roles.

I have the Problem, that I should create homepages for different Business roles. And the reports I want to use in the homepage are mainly existing (Standard Reports) but I have to specify them with other selections than the "Initial selection".

Does C4C have the possibility to assign selections of reports to business roles? And where can I do this?

Thank you for Support!

Best regards,

Deborah

    Hi Deborah,

    1. And the reports I want to use in the homepage are mainly existing (Standard Reports) but I have to specify them with other selections than the "Initial selection".

A- Please use the SL version of C4C and within the Business Analytics workcenter and "Design Report". Find your report you want to alter and adjust the selection, start options, columns or rows. Then use the option to "Save As" then give a "Report Name" and "Selection Name". You can even set your new view as the default view for the report going forward.

    2. that I should create homepages for different Business roles

A- Now use the HTML5 version of C4C. Proceed to the homepage, and use the settings options in the upper right hand corner and select "Adapt", select relevant role you want to edit. Then go back to the settings wheel, and select "Edit". In the "Reports" area, search for your newly created "Report Name" and check add to role. The visible icon should open up and be checked. Now save.

    Warm Regards,
    Grayson

    Hi,

Have a look at this guide. It has a really good breakdown of how to setup restrictions for reports.

    • Hi,

Glad the reference helped. Actually you do not 'have' to assign any of the reports to a Business Role.

The default way reports are restricted is by the Workcentre Concept. So let's say for e.g. a user is assigned to the Sales Workcenter, then they will be able to see any reports that are also assigned to the Sales Workcenter.

What a Business Role allows you to do is have a further level of restriction. Again, let's follow the same example, say the user should not see any reports for Opportunities. As default, Opportunities is under the Sales Workcenter, therefore this user will have access to those reports. So to enable this level of restriction, you would assign the Opportunity reports (only) to a Business Role.

      Does this help a little?

To answer your original question, you cannot assign a Selection to a Business Role, rather the Report itself. What you can do however, is set what the default selection should be. So when the report is opened, it will always take that selection. An option could be to make a copy of the standard report you have, give it a different name and then use this in the Homepage. This report can have one 'Initial' selection tailored to what you want. This is valid if you have more than one Selection on your standard reports.
