Hello All,
We are on EPM 10 NW Excel client SP 25
Recently, we started noticing that opening plain(non EPM) Excel files while logged into EPM creates an erroneous connection automatically. This connection doesnt show up in the connections.xml file. Also, because of this new erroneous connection, every time a new Excel file is opened while logged into EPM shows the logon prompt with this new connection twice even after canceling it. I tried clearing the metadata cache, but doesnt help.
Also, to give a little background, we recently migrated all our connection URL's from http to https. The new dummy connection that is getting created always points to http. Maybe this background might throw some light on the cause of the issue.
Any ideas on how to stop this new dummy connection from getting created and why it is getting created?
Thanks,
Pavan.
Hi Pavan,
Has the BASIS people followed the point 4.6 from Installation guide when switching from http to https?? https://websmp107.sap-ag.de/~sapidb/011000358700000483522011E
Regards
JP

This issue is now resolved.
Apparently, the excel files that were causing this issue had some named variables pointing to the old http EPM connection URL's. Replacing the old connection URL's with the new one in the named variables and saving the excel file resolved the issue.
Here is a useful link regarding the same - https://wiki.scn.sap.com/wiki/display/CPM/EPM+Add-In+Connections+Explained
