settings in the data services designer can not be saved

Hi everybody,

settings in the data services designer like jobserver can not be saved.

after each start of the application all settings must be reentered.

The version is DS 4.2 SP6.

Must this be perhaps adjusted somewhere else?

I have found no hint for this behavior.

Thanks and regards,

Zaki

Hi ,

try to uncheck the option:

and assing the port range 3510-310 or 3500-3510 and reestart the client.

also Run the DS Designer as Administrator.

Depends on what settings you do - job server specific configuration should go into %DS_COMMON_DIR%\conf\DSConfig.txt on the job server machine. What settings are you referring to here? Check Server event log - do you see any entries corresponding the changes you make? What setting are you changing here? Also did you change DS_COMMON_DIR during SP6 install?

communication between designer and job server host could be broken. Do you get notification server error?

Also is this windows Job Server - if yes is LINK_DIR same as DS_COMMON_DIR?

test:

from designer: telnet <job server hostname> <job server port>

from job server host: telnet <designer ip> random port

if you know there is a firewall between 2 that will block any communication - uncheck allow designer to set the port for job server communication and specify from -to range. These ports must be open outbound on job server host and inbound on designer.  This requires job server restart. also restart designer.

You can see job server event log for any "change request or such entries".
