Crystal Server 2011 to CS2016 migration

Hi,

I have a Crystal Server 2011 system with over 1,000 scheduled reports which is on old hardware, so I have installed a Crystal Server 2016 SP03 system on a new server.

Previously I would have used the UMT (with the modified command line) to seamlessly and painlessly import the content from the old system to the new one.

Now I find that this command line change does not work anymore, what is the best option to 'lift and shift' 20GB of filestore, with all the users, security relationships, schedules, publications, groups etc?

I have tried the LCM/Promotion Management but this seems to ignore schedules - how can I bring everything over easily?

thanks

Keith

While migrating the report did you selected the dependencies as well in Promotion Management job? It should give you the option for Instances in the dependencies page.

If you have a Sandbox/Test environment, One alternate way I can test is. Make a copy of File Store and CMS database. Point the new SIA to the new CMS schema (do remember to change the cluster name) and point the FRS to the copy of file store and see if that works.

    Try referring to this blog:

I am trying the Promotion Manager but am experiencing lots of errors - it won't save all the objects in my job (66 pages of users, users' personal folders and their contents, calendars, access control lists and business view stuff) and it errors when I try to promote the list.

Does anyone have any suggestions for the best way to move one 4.x system to 4.2 SP03? Is doing it little by little in the LCM really the best way?

I could try BIAR files created in the old system if I can't get the LCM working properly, but I really don't want to get into restoring the CMS database and filestore from one system into the other.

    thanks
