NWDI Upgrade

Hi All,

We are in process of upgrading our NWDI system.

Current Version is - NW 7.4, Oracle 11g

Target Version - NW 7.5 SP4, Oracle 12c

We are using CTS+ with CHARM functionality in our landscape where solman uses NWDI system to deploy components in Java system.

Now when we are upgrading NWDI system which is integrated with CHARM, We are trying to prepare any additional steps which we need to take care.

Please suggest -

1) With NW 7.5 upgrade preparation, Is there any additional recommended activities which we need to perform before starting upgrade or with offline backup any additional directory backups which need to be take care.

2) After the upgrade any step which might be mandatory to have CTS+ and CHARM working perfectly.

3) And in case we have our NWDI system down, Will the transport import be possible by Solman CHARM.

Hello,

In case you do use System Copy Migration...

1.

All the activities in the DTR should be closed.

There should not be any open activities.

I would recommend you to finish the Assebling in all tracks WITH OPTION SOURCE EXPORT (please do not use the assembly option with pointers)

If you have made System Copy with option MOVE there should NOT be any TRANSPORT of software between the source and the target NWDI! Otherwise you will mess up the DTR database and you will have to repeat the system copy migration.

3.

If you do use System Copy with option MOVE the source system should be down. However, the CBS & DTR URLs will not be possible to be changed on the target system copy NWDI. So please keep available the source System Copy NWDI when you are changing the URLs in the target System Copy NWDI. Once the change has finished completely you might shut down the source system copy NWDI.

Else, you do not use System Copy migration...

Then you just make sure that you have assembled all the tracks and you do have the sources in the SCAs. Then you might import and use them in the 7.5 to migrate the customizations.

However in this case you will have 2 NWDI in parallel. (in my opinion it is a better approach if you might afford it from business perspective)
