R3ta/R3load : Creating a Temporary Index

Hello friends,

We are working on migration of very large DB2 z/OS database.

We are going to perform unsorted export for all non-cluster tables and want to test performance with Temporary index created as per some information provided in guide.

However, it is not clear - What SAP say.

First they say for DB2 z/OS create them with DB Tools only.

Next point say, it can be done with R3load commands also. Mentioned .STR, .TSK & .cmd files have been generated after running table splitting.

Can you please help me with guiding how can we use these files to create Index ? (they are not in Export/ABAP/DATA directory)

Do we have to run this R3load manually before starting DB export ?

And is this R3load going to create these index in ABAP DDIC also ? Or only in DB ?

For z/OS, what should be used ? R3load or DB tools ?

Regards,

Ashish

Hi Vikas.

SAP system migration takes place in two different methods through DB based and SAP Standard methods, last week we have migrated from our production to sandbox system on IBM-i system using SAP standard method R3load(For upgrade to EHP7 ERP6), it went almost 14 hours DB size around 5.5 TB.

R3load will create all the tables and index's in the target system. all depends on your hardware resources.
