Allow Fiori Launchpad login to be same as ECC backend login

Is there a way to configure the NetWeaver Gateway system so that the user can login to Fiori Launchpad using their backend ECC credentials rather than having to maintain separate credentials for both?

Thanks,

Michael

Even in case of central hub architecture, you can create the same user id as in ECC on the gateway system. Then setup trusted RFC connection between the front end and back end systems (configure the RFC destination to use the Current User).

We have the same user id in both ECC and the gateway system, and we also have setup trusted RFC connection to use Current User. However, the user still must login to the Fiori Launchpad with the password that is maintained in the gateway system. Once they are logged into the Launchpad and select an app, then of course the "Current User" setting allows connection to the backend ECC system to collect the data, etc. But, we would like them to be able to login to the Launchpad using the password that is maintained in the backend ECC system. Based on what I've read thus far, it appears this is not possible when using the hub option, but I just wanted to make sure I was understanding correctly what I've read.

This is not possible in case of hub system except if the same passwords are maintained for the users in the ECC and gateway systems. Since the launchpad runs on the gateway system and not on the back end system in a hub architecture the users would always have to use the gateway system credentials to login.

Hi Michael- For that you can install Fiori on top of your ECC system. SAP have 2 options.

1. Central HUB System

2. Embedded System

If you go with Embedded system, you can easily find Backend and Front end components in a single system.
