Hi Ashutosh !

I think that I found something interesting -

I forgot, before this error I got an error:

But I have oracle 11.2, so I created the simlink -  ln -s /oracle/EW3/11204 /oracle/EW3/102_64

and after this I'm getting the first error.

Hi Igor,

why you have created a symbolic link ?

Hi Ashutosh, if it's wrong, what should I do with error -  /oracle/EW3/102_64 does not exist ?

Former Member

There must be a reason why the system is trying to access /oracle/EW3/102_64.

Most probably a wrong environment variable.

Please double check!

Hi Josef,

I run system rename under root user, there is no sap environments, but there is all necessary environments under the SIDADM and ORASID users I think.

Hi,

What is version of SAP application and oracle database you are using ?

Also addition to earlier reply.

Try to run SWPM with SIDADM and check are you able to cross that phase ...

Hi Igor,

Please update if you have gone through below SAP Note:

1619720 - System Rename for SAP Systems based on SAP NetWeaver

and you had removed local_listener parameter as mentioned in this note.

Thanks,

Manish

Hello Igor,

1. root is the correct user when using SWPM.

2. Check the environment variables.

As user ew3adm and then as user oraew3 please run:

"env | grep 102"

cd $HOME ; grep 102 .*

3. Check SAP profiles.

cd /sapmnt/EW3/profile

grep 102 *

4. Check Oracle Profiles

cd $ORACLE_HOME/112_64/dbs

grep 102 *

Provide the output of the above if any of the commands return a result for the string "102".

Amerjit

Also I found that I can't start this system (with editing all of configuration files). I use SSFS, and I think it could be a problem for system rename:

Hi Igor,

Could you also perform the same env checks as user oraew3.

You have a incorrect situation for your Oracle home as I see 112_64 twice in the path and then your error of "too many levels of symbolic links". Could you perform a "ls -l" of /oracle/EW3 and /oracle/EW3/112_64 and post it here. It looks like you may have the 112_64 sym link created twice.

Amerjit

Hi Igor,

Root user is a correct user to execute SWPM, the exercise to use SIDADM was to identify how SWPM behave wile reading the environmental variables.

Please login with SIDADM user and run R3trans -d and share the trans.log.

Anil

Maybe SWPM can not work with SSFS ?

But your trans.log don't say anything about SSFS, are you sure SSFS is enabled ?

Can you share the sapinst.log file, zip and share the same.

Oh yes Anil, I got this idea about SSFS too. It wasn't enabled, I enabled it, but it didn't help. Now I am trying to use OPatch to fix Oracle problems.

I fixed the sapservices, but it didn't help:

Oracle specific files look good, as you have taken couple of actions now, try to perform below steps.

1. Stop SWPM running process,  kill sapinst process

2. Keep only active default, instance and start profile profile directory, move rest of the file to other safe place, dont touch oracle folder in profile directory.

3. Stop SAP and oracle  also stop any process related to EW3 instance, stop SAP services. So when you do ps -ef| grep -i ew3, you should not see any process is running.

4. Start ORacle and SAP (Make sure Earlier soft link which was created it is not place now)

5. Start SWPM from scratch.

Let give a try to above steps and let us know the result. If you still phase issue, then share the sapinst_dev.log file which was created after running new setup of SWPM.

Dear Anil, I did this steps, but it didn't help. Also I downloaded 2-years old SAP System Rename software - there is the same error. So something returns the bad ORACLE_HOME:

           com.sap.sdt.ins.filercopy.db.ora.NetworkOra lib=java

oracle_home: /oracle/EW2/102_64

Maybe I should to try manual SAPSID and ORASID rename ?

As you have run the SWPM from scratch, pls share the latest sapinst_dev.log file

Hello Igor

Try setting ORACLE_HOME in the listener.ora and restart tool from the begining.

Check note 562403 - FAQ: Oracle Net for an example for ORACLE_HOME in the listener.ora file.

Restart listener as well.

Here's a new sapinst_dev.log file

Please adapt the listener.ora file as Reagan has already suggested and restart the listener and repeat sapinst.

What is this EW2 instance ?

From the sapinst_dev we can see there is no issue with EW3 now, it is properly seeing Oracle home with 112_64. Want o understand what exactly is this EW2 and why it is going specific to 102_64.

Hello Reagan!

I added ORACLE_HOME in listner.ora:

SID_LIST_LISTENER =

  (SID_LIST =

    (SID_DESC =

      (SID_NAME = EW3)

      (ORACLE_HOME = /oracle/EW3/112_64/)

    )

  )

lsnrctl start now has 1 instance:

Services Summary...

Service "EW3" has 1 instance(s).

And now it begin to rename !!!
