EXPORT/IMPORT To Data Buffer and Database

Hello Experts,

I have used both EXPORT/IMPORT to data buffer string and database with ID. I understand and clear about Export to database will store the compression string in database.

But i am not clear about the concept EXPORT to data buffer string, is it really stores the data into clusters in database? if it is stored then how to delete the data from database which is not used further.

EXPORT ... TO DATA BUFFER xstring, simply compresses the data into a xstring variable, in memory only.
