Target Group add Contacts based on Territory

Dear Cloud Community,

If we create target groups, we can add accounts or contacts. If we choose to add contacts (which, I assume, most of us do, since you want to target people and not anonymous company mailingaddresses), I struggle to do a selection by territory.

I noticed some months ago, that a selection based on ABC classification isn't possible (I guess, thats just a fault, a missing function if I compare this with similar campaign-software). Now I really hope, that the territory isn't just another "missing basic-fundamental function".

Does any of you have an idea on this subject?

Best Regards,

Simon

Hi Simon,

Apologies for the late response.

Actually, the search fields in Add contacts for Target Groups is modeled based on what is available in the Contacts Advanced search.

In the contacts Advanced search (Customer work center), only below fields are available for search. The same is being used in the Add contacts for target groups. Please check screenshot below.

Also, for contacts without account, an ABC classification or territory based search may not make sense as it is not linked to any account.

Anyhow, finally, if the field is available in the Contact advanced search, it will also be brought forward here.

Pavithran

Hi Pavithran,

Thank you so much for your answer.

Yes, thats definetly true, what you are saying. Nevertheless, many search functions on contact level are referring on account-related information. For example the adress itself or the relationship they have (like funciton and departement), furthermore we can add customerspecific field, which are account attributes.

Since I have crossed this topic in every implementation I made so far, I will set up something on the idea forum. And I can understand, what the customers are asking for. Lets say: They want to adress CEOs, but only those classified as A rated companies. Or all CFO, but only in a certain region and so on.

But anyway, thank you very much for taking the time and answering in such an elaborate manner.

Thanks,
Simon

One option would be to join the contact data base and the account data base together. Then from the report you could use the selection to get the contacts that you want.

Then it becomes a manual process, export the list, then format and upload the Target Group.

A round about way to get there, but I believe it would work.

Hi Simon,

i got your requirement, but we can obviously not offer all account attributes in the contact search in the standard. You mentioned the account's abc classification and the territory use case, for other customers the account's industry or sales data might be relevant.

What i want to say is we can't add in the standard all fields and it's difficult to decide which fields the "most" important fields are.

-> We have to offer the possibility to let the customer decide which account fields are relevant for him. This will be possible with KUT in the future. Can you please share the high level plan for this feature?

Hi Markus,

Thank you so much for waying in on this discussion.

Sure, I can see how this impacts the many different possibilities of relevant data. From my perspective, or at least on how I know "usual central european marketing" is operating, they target usually on adresses from person. So the place, where somebody is working, is relevant. I do not doubt, that there are many scenarios in which only companies are adressed, but any campaign I ever crossed, there was only a focus on persons (and therefore all company related qualities only needed for this type of "focus").

Thank you so much,

Simon

Hi Mark,

Thank you so much for joining this discussion.

Yes, I as well thought of this workaround. Or - doing a regular person focused targetgroup, then export and creating a matchup with a customer-export with the relevant ABC data and such, to narrow down on the relevant target.

Thanks alot!

Simon

Hi Simon,

Basically, you are trying to search contacts based on Account attributes and not contact attributes directly. Both of them you mentioned are Account attributes. Anyhow, you could raise it as an idea in the ideas forum for further evaluation.
