New SAP One Lauchpad search \ number of hits seems to make no sense

Hello.

I'm searching for SAP Notes about transactions SQ00 and SQ01.

But the results I'm getting in this new SAP One Lauchpad search tool are not making any sense to me.

So, please follow my 3 steps description of the issue and then my question:

1. I started by searching for "sq00" and reached 43 unfiltered english results in SAP Notes and KBAs.
2. Then, I searched for "sq01" and reached 693 unfiltered english results in SAP Notes and KBAs.
3. Finally, I searched for "sq00 sq01" and reached 1098 unfiltered english results in SAP Notes and KBAs.

To me, the fact that this last search reaches more results than the other two together makes no sense, because like this it is neither an AND search, nor an OR search nor an EXACT MATCH search.

Question: Does anyone have any idea (or doc explaining) how this new search works?

Yesterday there Wave 7 / 2016 for SAP ONE Support Launchpad and SAP ONE Support Applications was deployed and so I just checked if the issue is solved.

It kinda persists, only with different results.

Let me describe my tests so that others might replicate the steps.

I started by defining that I wanted an exact search:

Then I searched for SQ00 (with no restrictions at all) and reached the following results for English:

Then I searched for SQ01 (with no restrictions at all) and reached the following results for English:

Then I searched for SQ00 SQ01 (with no restrictions at all) and reached the following results for English:

So, once again it seems to me that:

• This results is not coherent with an AND search; and
• This results is not coherent with an OR search; and
• This results is not coherent with an EXACT MATCH search.

If someone can make sense of this, I would be much obliged if he\she could explain it so that I can adapt my searches accordingly.

Hi Silvia,

thanks for your feedback. The delivery only contained the Search method settings. The change of the algorithm to solve your issue is still being tested.

Okay, Arno, thanks for the reply. I'll wait.

But, meanwhile, if by any chance you know of a doc that I might check to make me understand a bit better the present algorithm, please let me know.

Because, this search tool is a daily must for any active SAP consultant, so knowing the basis of how it "thinks" when it searches for SAP notes is quite useful.

Thank you very much for pointing this out, providing clear steps to reproduce.

This should not be the case, since search terms are connected by AND by default.

Same is the case with me . I am also juggling around the new Launchpad to search and download notes based on multiple Software component, Release and Support Pack level and for a particular key word like <ARCHIVING_OBJECT> and

Software Component     Release     Support Package

Could you provide the feedback on this.
