Hi:

I know that is the PHP forums...But i didn't know where to post this -:)

Yesterday I installed <b>Ruby on Rails</b> on my PC, and follow the OnLamp Tutorial...

<a href="http://www.onlamp.com/pub/a/onlamp/2005/01/20/rails.html">http://www.onlamp.com/pub/a/onlamp/2005/01/20/rails.html</a>

First thing to say...<b>Ruby on Rails</b> is really easy to learn and develop -:D I really like it -;) Of course, i love <b>PHP</b> the most...But <b>Ruby on Rails</b> really worth the try -;)

Have any of you got some experience using it???

Greetings,

Blag.

Hi Blag,

just to be complete for the others which also read this topic. Have a look on the Weblog: <a href="/people/piers.harding/blog/2005/08/03/sap-on-rails-and-not-on-the-skids">SAP on Rails, and not on the skids</a>.

Hi Gregor:

After reading that weblog, i decided to install and try <b>Ruby on Rails</b> -:D

As i said before, my goal is to remake my PHP Weblogs using <b>ROR</b>...I think that it would be great...I would be able to show people the best of both world -:)

Yeah Craig...I think you're right...Technologies Forum would be the best place to be...But...I don't think that i will harfull to keep it here -:P

Actually we're like a PHP/SAP gang -:) So i just wanted to know your opinion about <b>ROR</b>...And maybe posted in the Tech Forum...I will not get your attention...Of course, more people could answer...But i'm more interested in Anton's, Dennis's, Gregor's, Jhon's and your answers -;)

Anyway...Just do the best for this post -:)

Greetings,

Hi All,

I have been doing some work with ROR and SAP...at least trying to. The Rails platform is great and I have had good luck with it over the last several months, but I have had trouble getting the SAPRFC library to play well on Windows. I have only been at it a couple of days, so there is still hope. I may switch over to my Linux laptop to see if that is any better.

Anyway, I would love to see a track on SDN related to ROR and SAP. I think it could be a way to attract a lot of non-SAP developers to the SDN once word got out.

C-ya,

Nathan

Hi Nathan,

I think a quick start could be the free <a href="http://www.vmware.com/products/player/">VMWare Player</a> with the Debian <a href="http://www.vmware.com/vmtn/appliances/community.html">Community Virtual Appliance</a>.

Hi Nathan and welcome to the forums!

If you can start supplying some of your work with ROR and SAP in the forms of blogs I'm sure that would help to bring in interested folks as well. It would also bring about the start of a ROR forum here on SDN.

My email is in my Business Card drop me a line I'd like to hear more about your experiences and what we can do here on SDN to promote ROR more.

That's exactly my plan Nathan -;) I haven't test the RFC connection for ROR and SAP yet...But i'm working on it -:) Also, i'm going to write a few blogs to get developers attention...The same as I do with my PHP and SAP Blogs.

Thanx for your helpful answer -:)

Greetings,

Blag.
