Enterprise Portal Menu Strategy

Hello,

We are in the process of bringing multiple intranet and portal systems onto a single sap portal environment for our intranet. I have been looking for best practice examples and screen shots of how other companies have modeled their menus and what their IT Home pages consist of (KM and notifications, workflow, other things they have found to be successful during a rollout).

We are trying to work through the best way to categories our top level tabs, 2nd row menu options, and left navigation and are interested in how other companies have done this and found success at it.

I would be most interested to hear and actually see screen prints along with hearing of your successes. If you know of any urls that provide this kind of best practice detail, please pass these along as well.

Thank you in advance for sharing your portal successes, appreciate the information

Thank you for the post, although this is helpful - I was looking for more outside company related material and more information on how to architect your menu structure (by organization, by other major categories, 2nd level menu approach and detailed navigation design). Was also looking for home page designs by organizational area that have worked well for companies.

If you are running an intranet portal and have worked through this or a consultant that has assisted in these designs, I would be most interested to hear your approach and design strategies. A url with feedback on how the system was setup would be helpful.

Thanks in advance for any assistance you can lend,

Todd Simon
