Process chian failure due to Could not create job BI_PROCESS_CHAIN; error 1

Hi everyone,

Recently we are facing an issue related to process chain.

The issue is: We have schedule (using third party Scheduling Control M) a process chain, and it has one meta chain after start variant.

It is failing daily on meta chain step due to "Could not create job BI_PROCESS_CHAIN; error 1" & "Job cancelled after system exception ERROR_MESSAGE" error. (Please find the attached screenshot of failure messages)

There is no INSTANCE ID created for the same variant, But when we repeat failed step or we manually trigger it, the this execute successfully.

Addition information:

  • Variant is schedule as "Start using Metachain or API".
  • Tried replacing variant with new one.
  • Check the table RSPCPROCESSLOG and checked state column is having value as 'G' for meta chain after repeating & for Start Variant Status of process is "F".

Can you please help me to know why it was not getting triggered automatically?

Thank in advance! 😊

    Hi Ajay,

Is there any variant of process chain ( info-pacakges, creation/ deletion of index variants, DTPs etc) used in the Process chain are deleted from the system but the same is not adjusted in the process chain.?

So, check if all the variants used in your chain are actually existing in the system or not. If not, then you need to remove them from the process chain also and reactivate it.

Try removing your metachain from schedule and then putting it back to schedule again.
