Challenge: run Fiori in an Intermec 3.5'' 240 x 320 display

Hi,

Does anybody ever tried to run SAP Fiori on an Intermec mobile computer? I have to develop (custom development based on SAPUI5) a couple of apps in order to run them on small devices.

According to Intermec (source: Intermec Applications and Software: Emulator and Browser: HTML5 ) they released a HTML5 browser but I'm not quite sure it can run SAP Fiori.

Furthermore, I'm a little bit concerned about the specs of the device (ranging from 64MB RAM to 256MB and running typically Windows CE 6.x, but it can be upgraded. However I don't believe they can put a better SO on a 64MB device...).

One of the greatest feature of SAP Fiori is to give this mobile capability to cover this kind of field processes. If you have any clue regarding this kind of requirement please share with the community.

Hi Hugo, it really depends what you are after.

Does it have to be a Fiori application? Are you sure that you want the Fiori look& feel on that small screen? Are you aware that those screens (sounds like older devices) are not multi-touch capable and cannot do swipe gestures.

You could still develop a custom SAPUI5 application without the FIori look&feel, and make it more specific to get the most out of these screen dimensions.

We are currently running our own custom-developed HTML5 applications on Intermec handheld devices. We went against SAPUI5 in favour of a different Javascript framework, but the concept is the same (except that we also make use of a HTML5 standard feature "local storage")

Hi Hugo,

The devices may have the capability to run the browser based fiori launchpad but they would not be able to run the hybrid container that is deployed to say an iOS or Android device for access to the hardware.  To give such a feature a client would have to be written for Windows CE 6.x and thus far I believe the lowest level of Windows supported is 8.1.
