How to clear or delete Events from an OPI Scenarios

Hi,

We have a running OPI scenario in a Production system, and wish to remove a large number of older events that did not correlate correctly or are otherwise invalid.  The data source here is ERP Process Observer (ERP running on HANA) via direct access to the Process Observer.

I have deleted records using the POC_MASS_DELETE transaction in ERP, and this seems successful.

I recall that I should Regenerate the OPI Scenario to force a reload of the source data, however

     1. Where is this documented?

     2. Is it necessary to Regenerate from the xxx.hprbusinessscenario file, or from the Package?

I have repeated this process several times, but the old (deleted) process instance is still visible in OPI.  Are there any common problems here?

Also, is there a more direct way to do this regeneration - perhaps a SQL script?  The need to open the application in HANA Studio is a very manual process, and is more a Developer role.

Thanks

Andy

Hello Andy,

Few information first :

1.  POB events are stored in POB related tables in HANA, OPInt correlates these events into OPInt related configuration and events tables. If you have cleaned POB tables then the result would not be reflected in OPInt workspace because OPInt event tables still have that data. You can delete the OPInt events tables data - I have send you the technical script seperately.

2.  Regeneration of the scenario is not required if there are no changes in Business Scenario modeling. Modeling of the business scenario is done buy Solution Expert - with a developer role. Generation is core part of modeling. We would soon come with WebIDE for business scenario modeling.

Hope that helps,

Thanks Archana.  That script does work.

We do find with the early use of OPI that there are unwanted processes instances, perhaps due to process exceptions or unforeseen transactions.  It will be valuable to have an explanation of the tables used by the Scenario, and any tips to manage the data.

I can see that after ~1 year we may want to delete completed processes also.  Is there any provision for that?

Hello Andrew,

You can find the details of the generated artifacts in the developer's guide. Configuration tables details are internal to operational process intelligence and they are not supposed to be be altered manually as it can lead to corrupt and dangling data.

You can archive the completed data. Read more about this in our SCN article :

Hope that helps,

Let me know if you need any further information.

Archana
