SOST - Mails not delivering from Specific User/Mail ID

Hello All,

We have a strange issue. Our functional team is testing some workflow in QA system and mails are generating in SOST. These mails were successfully sent out to defined user mail IDs from QA system but not getting delivered.

After some investigation, we found this problem happens when the sender mail id for user ABC is ABC@SAP.COM. If we replace the mail ID to some other, example with XYZ@SAP.COM, the mails are being delivered to users.

At first we thought the problem with mail id ABC@SAP.COM but the same mail ID is assigned to another user (say XYZ) and the mails are being delivered from ABC@SAP.COM.  So, this is not clearly the issue with mail ID too.

Can anyone help me to understand and solve this strange issue?

Note: Email functionality is working fine

Hello All,

Issue resolved. The exchange server is configured to deliver email to our customer domain only.

Hi Phani,

Can you check user profile for ABC in tab Address, section Communication, filed Comm. Meth, and set it wit E-mail. It may fix the issue.

It was checked already. I changed from Remote mail to E-mail but issue did not solve.

Hi Phani,

Can you update about the mails which are reaching at SOST for ABC user with ABC@SAP.COM .


What is the status code shown for those mail? If you try to process those mails from SOST then are those processing or you are getting error.

Hello Manish,

Yes, the status code is 73 in SOST. Also we tried re-processing the mails from SOST and status code is 73. No error occured.

Hi Phani,

Status code 73 shows that your SAP configuration is correct.

Please ask your exchange team to trace when ABC user is sending mail using ABC@SAP.COM mail id because with 73 code mail is out of SAP system and it is getting lost in between SAP system and the target recipient of that mail.

Sure, will check this with exchange team.

One more update, actually the user ABC is system user. It was changed to service user, logged into SAP system and sent test mails and it was working fine.

Yes, it is possible. So here is the problem we are facing:

1. User ABC with mail id ABC@SAP.COM --> can send mail but not deliver to User outlook mail

2. User ABC with mail id XYZ@SAP.COM --> can send mail and deliver to User outlook mail

3. User XYZ with mail id ABC@SAP.COM --> can send mail and deliver to User outlook mail

It seems the problem is not with either User or with mail ID.Any ideas?

Dear Phani,

Yes you are correct.

You need to check the configuration on the outlook side why this user is not receiving the mail.

Also check the SMTP log on the OS level and you will able to figure out the problem.

Can it or it cant?....  when you say it can is it to their SAP Office inbox?...

Any mail that is send from SAP joins the SOST queue... what's the error message?....

You need to provide a full description of your problem.

Hello JP,

Its not SAP office inbox, it is the user Outlook mail.

I mean, the mail is sending out from SOST and status shows green (message 73), No error message is shown in SOST queue.

Problem description is here:

1. User ABC with mail id ABC@SAP.COM --> mail going out from SAP but not deliver to User outlook mail

2. User ABC with mail id XYZ@SAP.COM --> mail going out from SAP and deliver to User outlook mail

3. User XYZ with mail id ABC@SAP.COM --> mail going out from SAP and deliver to User outlook mail

Dear Ashutosh,

I don't think there is a problem at outlook side since this issue is happening to all recipients and only for this particular scenario.

Checked the SMTP log but could not find any thing suspicious.

use also SCOT-tocde for SAP mails

Have you check mail server fine.? and also check port

As I said earlier, the mail functionality is working fine.The problem is with user and mail ID combination.
