dear experts,
I would be requiring your help on the following doubt:
- a long term infrastructure project has been started.
- vendor has been selected to complete the project work.
- the WBS, activity list and schedule created by vendor with company's approval.
- contract type uses reimbursable cost.
hence, whenever any equipment / material receipt from vendor, the invoice can be processed for payment.
the requirement: to monitor the schedule & monitor the actual cost.
which one of MM external service management or Project system (PS) are more appropriate in SAP for this scenario?
kindly advise.
thanks,
rob
Hi,
You can go for project system and create contract for equipment/ material , and then proceed with other proceeding transactions.

Hello Robiton,
If you want to control & monitor in detail level then project system module will be more suitable.Large scale projects, such as building a factory require precise planning of the many detailed activities involved.
Through PS you can get
Multiple versions – Compare different scenarios
Time planning
Resource Planning
Capacity planning and levelling
Detailed cost planning
Hierarchical Budget planning
Hierarchical Structure
Cost and Budget monitoring
Revenue Planning and monitoring in detail
Project progress tracking In Detail
Integration with CATS
Integration with Microsoft project
Validation and substitution
Plan VS Actual Comparison (Date, Cost, Revenue)
Hierarchical Report (Cost, Budget, Date, Revenue)
You can have control on WBS through user status.
Hi Rob,
WBS is a part of the SAP Project system, you can only use the WBS/Project as an account assignment in SAP MM for procuring project services. So I would suggest you to go with Project system and use External services for procuring services against the Project.
