Creating Material with Reference Using LSMW

Hi All,

I had to change the valuation class of some materials in material master which had stocks and purchase orders for which GR and Invoice has been done. so I have to create 400 new materials (with different valuation class) with reference to old materials. All the data in the new material has to be picked from its old material. I am using recording method in LSMW. I also provided reference material during recording. My question is it required me to maintain data for all the fields which appear on a screen in the source file, e.g: material description, material group etc. should be picked from the reference material, however it required to maintain all such data in the source file. If I had to provide all the data in the source file what is the advantage of providing reference material in LSMW. Because all the data is supposed to be picked from reference material. Is there any Way so that it picks Data from reference material in LSMW and I maintain a source file in which I do not need to maintain data for each and every field? And If I have to maintain the source file is there any easy way to maintain the file for 400 materials?

    Hi Ahsan,

    Try with bellow points after recording.

    1. Change filed variable name for reference material.Double click on filed name on recording screen, it'll show popup window to change. (e.g. REF_MATNR)

    2. Remove screen fields from screen recording, so that values copied from reference material will not overwrite.( Basically, once these fields will not part of recording, it'll not part of source structure too. so no chance of overwrite. system will pull details from reference material master & same will save.

    Hello,

    As you are creating new material what is the point in taking the reference material of the old material.

    Create a recording by MM01 for a single material & maintain all the required fields & upload the rest by preparing the upload document with the recorded fields. As you want all the details of the old material it would be easier for to have a dump of MARA,MARC to create the upload document.
