Hi All,
I have issue regarding revision level of components getting auto updated in old BOM's
for e.g.
I have X material as BOM header. BOM is order BOM created through CS61 and it is copied from material bom having usage '2'.
Components of BOM along with revision level are :
Component A With revision level '01'
Component B With revision level '01
Now Components A undergoes the revision change so revision level is '02'
ideally revision level should not get auto updated old BOM's. However system auto updates all the sales order BOM's with new revision level.
I want a record of which revision levels of components are supplied with old machines.
Kindly Suggest.
Thanks
Hi Ranga,
Order BOM parks Production/Engineering BOM at the time of creation of Sales Order . It is static and further changes in engg/prod BOM are not prevented from appearing in Sales Order BOM. There is no way material related changes can be prevented. For example , if you change Material description in the MM02 , Sales order BOM will display new description. Similarly revision level will too.
From business standpoint:
If revision level only changed , 3F(Form , Fit and Function same as old part) are ensured , so customer wouldn't mind new revision level part for replacement.

Jatin
Hi,
Does this revision level change of material happens with Change Number? I guess it is a matter of date it is valid from - if you have it valid before the order validation it sounds like a proper system behaviour.
